τὸ γενεθλιακόν (sc. θέμα) (to genethliakon thema), “birth-chart, nativity”
It’s my birthday week. I don’t really celebrate a “birthday week” per se, but just giving that as a temporal marker. Except my birthday is a boring weekday this year, so we are celebrating tomorrow with friends, and then we are doing something fun next week as well. It’s been an incredibly busy week; I was on phones for two days, for example. However, phones were thankfully calmer than usual; steady, but not overwhelming. Most people were pretty nice.
We got a duvet cover and insert at IKEA recently and finally washed it and started using it. It’s lovely. I’d never used one before, and we got an insert that is fairly light and ideal for spring/summer. I love it. I love sharing a blanket with my spouse, and it is very comfy and cozy. I want other covers and inserts now. Love it. I love sleeping, even though Lyra gets me up fairly frequently during the night. I hope she grows out of the neediness at night.
I did an hour of Latin after work tonight, then we went out to the Friends of the Library booksale. They set aside the first day for members only, as a sort of “pre-sale,” and we hadn’t been to that day before. It was nice! Still people taking boxes and boxes of books away, but the selection was much better (and they sell memberships at the door, so anyone can come, theoretically, even if not yet a member; if you have the $$, it is absolutely worth supporting your local friends of the library group!). I thought I’d only grab a book or two, but I ended up getting like 6. They had a cool Colorado history section, which was intriguing to me. After that we grabbed some groceries for later in the weekend, and headed home.
Thankfully we had leftovers for dinner tonight. It’s been a weird week; we went out twice and are going out tomorrow too, but oh well. Just that kinda week.
I’m listening to Bandcamp music tonight as it’s Bandcamp Friday, one of the best days of the month! I have a few albums picked out to grab already, but I’m still listening through to them and enjoying them (think the new Japanese Breakfast, new Lucy Dacus, and also the new Beach Bunny!). It’s always fun picking out new music, but I have so much as it is, I don’t want to overdo it. I’m not all “music is life” like I used to be in high school and early college, but I still adore music. Ah who am I kidding, music is life, it’s lovely.
I like Friday nights since I can start recharging from the busy week I’ve just been through. Usually my spouse and I hang out for awhile, but depending on the night I end up doing computer stuff for awhile. I have a lot of tabs to offload from my phone and I need to work on that soon, but I don’t think I want to deal with it tonight. We have some errands to do early tomorrow, then seeing friends tomorrow evening. So we’ll see how Saturday goes. Sunday will be busy and full of Latin to work on, but that’s OK.
Tomorrow we’re also testing out Tesla charging. I know, I know, I am not thrilled either. But we got a special adaptor for the car and it’ll let us use Tesla chargers, which will give us access to more chargers in general. I figure we’ll offset any charging costs with donations to The Trevor Project vel sim. I love our EV and it works very well for us, but I really think for roadtrips, vastly more fast chargers are needed. There are not enough to go around, and it needs to be a priority in terms of chargers.
More and more, a birthday is “just another trip around the sun,” but it is nice to celebrate with family (mostly my spouse and the kitties) and friends. I’m happy to have survived the universe another year, at very least. I like being here and don’t want oblivion yet. Too much to do, too many people to meet, too many places to see, too much art to enjoy.
I hope y’all are doing wonderfully and having a good morning/afternoon/evening, whatever the case may be, wheresoever you may be. <3
