Hard-Won Weekend

There in the title, that’s the post.

Kidding. It has been an incredibly busy week, as most weeks are wont to be. It was a good one, but just a lot going on. And I barely finished what I needed to finish (and not quite everything) today, but did my best, and that is what I aim for every day. The slightly-warmer spring weather has allowed us to keep the windows open at night, and I am loving the fresh night air (I am sure the kitties are enjoying it also). I’ve been opening the blinds behind my desk in my office lately during the day, too, and enjoying the simple beauty of the backyard. I should’ve done that years ago, but I honestly just haven’t opened the blinds much (the ones to my right look on the neighbors’ driveway and they use the side door all the time, so they’d be staring in, ugh). The ones behind my desk just, again, look out on the backyard, and it is a very pretty scene. My desk faces east, so I get to watch the sunrises and they’re really lovely, but I found that I need to wait a little bit to open the blinds, or the sun will stream right into my face, which isn’t ideal.

I called my mom just now. I usually call her on Friday nights to catch up. Last week I was doing something else, don’t remember what, but I didn’t call her, and it was nice to catch up a bit. She is out of town for her birthday weekend (it’s on Monday) and visiting my uncle and aunt in Newport. So that’s very cool and I’m sure she is having a great time. When we visited my uncle and aunt there, they were so kind to me and my spouse and were just excellent hosts. ξενία all around!

Otherwise I am looking for Bandcamp music to buy since it’s Bandcamp Friday, naturally, and that’s always a fun time of the month! Although currently I don’t have a ton that I want to get, since I have so very much music as it is, but there are a few things I have my eye on.

The gamepad my spouse helped me buy got here today, also, and I’m very excited to try it out. It is supposed to have better tech for the analog sticks and seems really lovely in general, so I am psyched about it. Will probably play some games tonight with it!

Just wanted to write a little bit and say hi. I’m trying to be more spontaneous about writing and not feeling like I have to write a magnum opus every time, because I don’t. I can do whatever I want, it’s my space, and I can write as much or as little as I want, and that’s OK. Thanks for reading, friends <3
