Sunny Saturday

We usually do errands on Saturday, but thankfully didn’t need to get up for anything. We were going to see Inside Out 2 today, but ended up pushing it back to tomorrow, since the timing didn’t entirely work out with the other stuff we needed to do. We actually didn’t need to do that much today, compared with normal Saturdays. I did a couple of hours of Latin this morning before we got going, which was good, since I have a total of 7 to get done this weekend, and 5 left for tomorrow (Sunday).
We put a package in the mail for my parents. Last week at the Star Wars Night Rockies game, we of course got shirts commemorating the game, and my parents weren’t there (sad face), but we got their shirts. So we put them in a shipping box, along with a book we bought for my mom (Camille Dungy’s Soil), and I also threw in one of the beach towels we got as a souvenir from the game too (it has Star Wars stuff on it and the Rockies players, haha). That was one of the errands.
We planned on doing a bunch of other errands, but by that point we got lunch. We went to a local place that has a nice deal: two slices & a drink for like $10 (!). Cheese pizza it is! Very good, and they also have cheesy garlic bread that was delightful. After that we threw in the towel on the rest of the errands, and just decided to essentially head home. My spouse wanted to look for a bedside lamp at Target (theirs is not very bright and doesn’t facilitate reading, really), but no dice; and Target, which I loathe going into on a good day (I suffer it just for my beloved Crispix), was full of the back-to-school crowds (yuck). We got drinks at Dutch Bros then headed home.
We went out into the backyard to check out the status, since I think I need to mow both lawns tomorrow, and it looks OK but should get a trim. We said hi to our neighbor who is super friendly and chatted with her a bit. She has a little pug named Celeste who is adorable. I grew up with a pug that my sister named (Queen) Victoria and she was a sweetheart.
We had a leisurely afternoon after that and didn’t leave the house. I just chilled out in the living room with my spouse and we shot the breeze. I gave them passwords to critical accounts (mortgage, power bill, gas bill, &c.) to throw in their Bitwarden, and noodled around with trying to get XMPP OMEMO encryption to work with my client (Psi+) and theirs (Gajim). monocles chat on Android works just fine when messaging them, but Psi+ has issues and I cannot figure out why.
Currently I am trying to kludge it together by integrating the current omemoplugin source into the current Debian source package and I don’t know how well it’s working. We’ll see (fingers crossed). When I just built libomemoplugin.so and tried to throw it into /usr/lib/psi/plugins, it got mad at me and said it’s not a valid plugin, so I hope that building the Debian psi-plugins package will work better. It’s a pain because psi-plus (Psi+) includes the OMEMO plugin, but doesn’t seem to work, ugh. So far it’s building, so we’ll see, tempus docebit.
Anyways we hung out, then decided to make dinner (neither of us was particularly hungry after pizza), and I split yellow rice with them and they had peas with their yellow rice. We watched some WatcherTV, which we’ve not watched for awhile, but hey, we had some cool stuff stored up. We’ve had a chill evening.
I did the dishes and got them running, scooped boxes, basically did the usual chores. Filled my CPAP in case I forgot to do it and it got too late. I can’t stay up too late since we have an early grocery pickup and I need to do the lawns, and we are also seeing the movie mid-morning. I think I’m gonna tag up some of the Bandcamp music I got yesterday most likely, which will be nice, and get it synced up with Nextcloud.
When I do quotidian posts I’m trying to just do snapshots rather than blow-by-blows as I’ve done in the past. I know it’s fine if I do the blow-by-blow but I’d rather it be a little more abstract. I don’t want to exhaust my reader nor myself. It’s nice to write though. I’m tired and don’t want to write more at the moment, but more soon. Thanks for reading, friends <3
